BJP Assigns Major Responsibility to Akshay Sharma for ‘Yuva Sampark Abhiyan’ Under ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’
Campaign to Focus on Connecting Youth with the Fight Against Drug Abuse
Amritsar. The Bharatiya Janata Party has assigned a major responsibility to BJP leader Akshay Sharma from Amritsar North as part of its ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’. Sharma has been appointed in-charge of the ‘Yuva Sampark Abhiyan’ for 21 Assembly constituencies, with the objective of connecting young people with the campaign against drug abuse. The yatra will begin from Pathankot on September 18.Youth to Be Contacted to Stay Away from DrugsAkshay Sharma said the BJP will conduct the ‘Nasha Mukt Punjab Yatra’ from September 18 to September 30, 2026, focusing on the issue of drug abuse in Punjab. The yatra will be launched by BJP national president Nitin Nabin on September 18 from Madhopur in Pathankot.He said the yatra will pass through all 117 Assembly constituencies and around 12,000 villages of Punjab. It is being launched through four different routes beginning from Pathankot, Fatehgarh Sahib, Fazilka and Talwandi Sabo. The campaign will conclude with a large rally in Jalandhar on September 30, in which Union Home Minister Amit Shah may participate.Sharma said he has been given responsibility for the ‘Yuva Sampark Abhiyan’ in Ajnala, Raja Sansi, Attari, Amritsar West, Amritsar Central, Amritsar South, Amritsar East, Amritsar North, Majitha, Jandiala, Baba Bakala, Tarn Taran, Khadoor Sahib, Khem Karan, Patti, Ferozepur City, Guru Har Sahai, Ferozepur Rural, Zira, Sultanpur Lodhi and Bholath. The yatra will pass through these constituencies between September 22 and 28.He said youth are an important force for the country and that their participation can contribute to development as well as efforts to address social problems affecting Punjab.Akshay Sharma said the outreach to young people is not limited to involving them in the yatra, but is aimed at bringing them together in the campaign against drug abuse.He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants the youth to play a greater role in Punjab’s future and that the BJP is working at the grassroots level to connect with young people. He added that the party would continue its work among the youth even after the Assembly elections.
